A former banker from Surrey Jeff Spies (Geoff Spice) quit smoking for 24 days on a desert island, wrote The Times.
In early August, 57-year-old Spice went to the Scottish island Skaravey (Sgarabhaigh). With him he took a tent, a mobile phone with solar battery, electronic books, radio, as well as canned fish, beans, fruits and chocolate.
According to Spice, to live alone for nearly a month on a desert island was rather difficult due to bad weather. His tent, he left only three times since the island was a strong wind. In addition, because of the approaching hurricane Spice returned home earlier than planned.
"The advantage of bad weather that you are not thinking about cigarettes - are you more interested in how to survive. I do not get out of his tent all day, although sometimes threw back the curtains and looked like seals and cormorants hunt for fish, "- said Spies.
According to him, the idea to go on a desert island, to quit, he was born in 13 years when he lived in Australia. Later, when he settled in the UK and finished his career, he realized his plan. Spice Island Skaravey chose the internet.
According to him, live on the island was very boring, but it helped him give up the habit of smoking. However, Spies said he does not believe in the effectiveness of this method to others.
